About
Part of the Longmont Ledger story belongs to Robert Clinton Keeler, a highly decorated World War II veteran who owned the paper from 1954 to 1972. After the war, Mr. Keeler turned his attention to the newspaper business, applying for a job at one of the two newspapers in Wray. In 1951 he began working at the Times-Call, and in 1954 he bought the Longmont Ledger. He continued to publish the Ledger until 1972, at which point he went to work at the printing and publications department of CU. He worked there more than 20 years, until his retirement in 1992.
Mr. Keeler died in April of this year, leaving behind a legacy of success and tireless community service.
Our adoption of the Longmont Ledger moniker for our new Longmont community publication will start a new chapter in this celebrated history. We plan to do Mr. Keeler proud.
