DA says Longmont meth ring a ‘significant’ supplier

A Boulder County grand jury has handed down a 127 count indictment against 17 people who prosecutors say were involved in a major drug ring supplying cocaine and methamphetamine in the Longmont area.

The Boulder Creek closure is from the Barker Dam east of Nederland to the Weld County line. That means the section of the creek that runs through Boulder and is popular for tubing is also closed. The creek was also closed last summer for a short period of time.
“It’s not uncommon, usually in May and June, when we start getting the runoff,” said Cmdr. Rick Brough, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
The closures on North and South St. Vrain creeks include both St. Vrain canyons as well as the section of the creek that flows through Lyons and then east to Longmont.

The complaint, filed Friday in Boulder County District Court, says that Mark Sellers, owner of Seller Masonry, 1638 Emery St., in Longmont, engaged in “deceptive trade practices” by not obtaining a contractor’s license from the county, misrepresenting the quality of the work, not completing jobs in a timely manner and refusing refunds.

Sean Griffin, 40, grew up in Connecticut; Staci Griffin, 41, in Arizona. They met at work, where Staci was Sean’s boss, and they moved to Connecticut, where they married in 1996. After a stint in Tennessee, they moved to Longmont’s Prospect neighborhood in 2007. Wanting to be their own bosses, they bought Boulder Stove & Flooring.
The Rev. Martin Lettow of Shepherd of the Hills moved to Colorado soon after the Griffins, and the families soon became close. The Griffins were not particularly religious, and Lettow joked Friday that the first thing Sean Griffin would say, if he could see the proceedings, would be to ask what he was doing in church.
