Francis Gordon “Gordy” Carlson

Francis Gordon “Gordy” Carlson died February 2, 2010 at the LifeCare Center of Longmont.  He was 78.

He was born February 14, 1931 in Fargo, North Dakota to John F. and Martha C. (Roe) Carlson.  He was raised in the Fargo area and owned and operated Horace Supply for 20 years.

He married Donna Johnson in 1951.  Later Gordy married Charlotte A. Oak on February 26, 1977 at the Horace Lutheran Church in Horace, North Dakota.  They moved to the Longmont area together in 1982 where Gordy was an independent carpenter in Boulder County for 20 years.

Gordy attended Grace Evangelical Free Church.  He loved to make things with his hands, and his many talents included woodworking, making clocks, working with corian, and he was an expert with any tool.  Above all he was a family man who was a great father, loved his kids and grandkids and had a huge heart. Gordy believed deeply in the Lord and was a very hard worker; he always had a positive outlook on life, and a twinkle in his eye.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother John and Martha Carlson; and his son Kevin Carlson.

Gordy is survived by his wife Charlotte of Longmont; two sons Brian Oak of Fargo,ND, and Darwin Oak of Deltona, FL; four daughters Leanne Scott of Redmond, WA, Laneil Skaff of Moorhead, MN, Carlotta Bornstein of Longmont, CO, and Tina Quintanilla of Westminster, CO; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation from 4-6 PM Friday February 5, 2010 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends.  Funeral service 2 PM Saturday February 6, 2010 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.  Interment at Horace Cemetery in Horace, ND.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Evangelical Free Church Mission Fund in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
