Battling for playoff berth, Raptors roll

Ledger Staff report

FORT LUPTON — Silver Creek quarterback Austin Apodaca threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raptors to a 42-8 victory over Fort Lupton in Class 3A Tri-Valley League action Friday.

Silver Creek (5-2 overall, 4-2 league) is battling for an automatic playoff berth. The Raptors need to finish in the top three in the league for guaranteed berth or hope for one of the three wild-card spots in 3A.

“This win keeps us in it,” coach Mike Apodaca said of the league race with Mountain View, Northridge, Windsor and Berthoud. “At the end of the day we control our own destiny.”
