Lions rumble past Byers in round one

LYONS — The Lyons football team used its dominating ground game to cruise to a 50-19 victory against Byers in the first round of the 1A playoffs on Saturday afternoon at home.
The No. 7 Lions will play No. 2 Akron next Saturday in the quarterfinals. Akron (9-1) beat Denver Lutheran 43-0 to advance.
The Lions (9-1) rushed for 304 yards and scored six of their seven touchdowns on running plays. Lyons jumped out to a 36-0 lead and never looked back against the Bulldogs (6-3).

Jake Windsor started the blowout with scores on runs of 3, then 5 yards. Dalton Arnold then scored on 4- and 6-yard runs to add to the route.
Lyons quarterback Roland Valadez led the team with 142 rushing yards to go along with a 2-for-5 passing performance for 28 yards. Windsor rushed 17 times for 73 yards and also scored a touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Valadez.
