It`s late October, and prep regular seasons are dropping like the leaves.With boys golf and tennis finished, and softball holding state Friday and Saturday, three more fall sports will be on the postseason path by the end of this week.

Boys soccer and volleyball wrap up their regular season slates this week. State playoff brackets for soccer and district brackets for volleyball will be released by the Colorado High School Activities Association on Sunday.

Cross country, meanwhile, has regionals this week, with a pair of them being held in Lyons on Thursday.

Lyons High will be the site for both the Class 4A Region 2 meet and the 3A Region 4 meet. The 4A meet will include locals  Longmont, Niwot, Silver Creek and Skyline, while Erie, Lyons and Peak to Peak will be there for the 3A meet.

Below is a complete rundown of where and when local schools will be competing for trips to next week`s state cross country meet:

CLASS 4A REGION 2 — Local schools: Broomfield, Longmont, Niwot, Silver Creek, Skyline. Time/place: 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Lyons High School.

CLASS 3A REGION 4 — Local schools: Erie, Lyons, Peak to Peak. Time/place: 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Lyons High School.
