Niwot softball team makes state

The Niwot High School softball team won the Class 4A, Region 4 title Saturday, sending the Cougars nine to the state tournament for the first time in two years.

Niwot (18-3) defeated Palisade 8-0 and Silver Creek 5-1 to take the title.

Silver Creek lost 6-4 to Palisade in the consolation final.
