Rivals Niwot, Silver Creek make softball regionals

3 local teams set for softball regionals
Two local schools made the Class 4A regional softball brackets released Sunday.
The top two teams in each four-team, double-elimination regional qualify for next week`s state tournament.
Northern League rivals Niwot and Silver Creek were both placed in the Region 4 tournament at Garden Acres Park in Longmont.
Niwot earned the fourth overall seed among the 32 postseason squads and will face No. 29 Palisade at 10 a.m. Saturday. Silver Creek got the 20th seed and will face No. 13 Thomas Jefferson at the same time, with the winners and losers squaring off at 12:30. The final qualifying playback is at 3 p.m.
No area 5A teams made regionals. Class 3A district tournaments will also be Saturday.
Local Class 4A regionals:
REGION 4 — At Garden Acres Park, Longmont. Game 1: No. 4 Niwot (16-3) vs. No. 29 Palisade (13-5), 10 a.m.; Game 2:No. 13 Thomas Jefferson (14-5) vs. No. 20 Silver Creek (13-6), 10 a.m.; Game 3: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 12:30 p.m.; Game 4: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 12:30 p.m.; Game 5: Game 4 loser vs. Game 3 winner, 3 p.m.
