Robert E. Wimer, 83, of Longmont, died February 2, 2010 at his home.
He was born June 12, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa to Herman R. and Elsie (Jackson) Wimer.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, and was Honorably Discharged.
He married Estella Struth on September 7, 1947 in Des Moines.
Robert lived in the Longmont area from 1962 until he moved to Iowa in 1972. He then moved back to Colorado four years ago to live near his children.
Robert was a tool and dye maker, working for Dow Chemical (Rocky Flats) then Maytag in Newton, Iowa until 1991. In retirement, Robert worked hard at running a farm raising goats and bees.
He attended Faith Baptist Church. Robert was a rock hound who loved hunting and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Estella of Longmont; his children, Kathee Pauley Caldwell (Bob) of Longmont, Connie Septer (Bill) of Goodyear, Arizona, Steve Wimer (Michelle) of Broomfield and Sue Sherman (John) of Aurora, Colorado; a sister, Joanne Banghart (Jack) of Urbanvale, Iowa; four grandchildren, Wesley Septer, Bradley Wimer, Robert Wimer and Krystal Sherman and a great-grandchild, Chloe Septer.
Memorial service 11AM Thursday, February 11 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel
